Charlize Riley Glass (born on November 27, 2001 in California, US) is a professional dancer, choreographer, actress and fitness trainer with African, Portuguese, Bulgarian, Indian, Irish and French roots living in California.

Charlize has been dancing and taking dance classes since she was three years old, aimed a professional career very soon and is standing in front line of professional dancers of the new generation ever since.

Beginning at 2008, at the age of six, she appeared on America Got's Talent and in 2010 on the BET Awards. In 2011, she got public eye by many events, such as, the MTV Video Music Awards, the finals of The Voice as guest, on series The Fresh Beat Band and So You Think You Can Dance. In 2012, she had been runner-up with her crew 8 Flavahz on MTV's America's Best Dance Crew, and last-not-least, Beyoncé herself shared a video of the then–12-year-old dancer performing to "Yoncé" on Instagram, along with a simple caption: "WOW!"[1] In 2014, the got the lead role on the short film Playground Politix. A year later she was performing on the TV broadcast with most watchers in American history, 120 millions plus 80,000 in the arena, the 2015 Super Bowl XLIX halftime show, side-by-side with Katy Perry and Missy Elliott.

When she joined The Pulse on Tour on season 2014/2015 as Elite Protégé at the age of 12 she has had already a thumb thick productive and professional record in bag, despite the fact that this education was designed to get those afterwards.

She formed a close friendship to the currently world's most prominent kid dancer Maddie Ziegler at the Radix convention in 2016 and both are working permanently together as duet on many occasions. Her favorite dream collaboration is working with Travis Wall.

Charlize visited a private school at the beginning, but due the schedule burdens of her dance career she switched partially to homeschooling and never liked it. She stated the working effort and self-discipline to keep on track to the end of the semester was unpleasant for her. Her grades in actual school were much better and it was harder to keep in contact to her school friends. She graduated in 2020 high school.[2]

Her parents live separated and she lived predominantly with her mom and has permanent and good relationship with her father. She got her black lion's mane - her thick curly hair - she was famous for and was giving her that charismatic look by him. She described her mom as her biggest inspiration and gives her a lot of credit, because she is taking good care of her, despite her own extensive working time. She spends a lot of time with her friends as well, including her four and counting cats. She is obsessed with cats. Although Charlize is a fierce monster on stage, is used to stand in front of the crowd, her strong appearance and that she is a cool, eloquent and strait forward shooter in interviews, in private she quite the opposite. She has some phobias and doesn't feel comfortable surrounded by people she doesn't know. She appreciates her privacy and wants to retreat from public after the show. One of her favorite moments with Maddie, she was running away with Maddie Ziegler at a convention from Maddie's fans, who were rushing to them. Privacy?! - So be it! (End of private article description.)[3][4][5][6][7][8]

Charlize is trained in a various style of dancing - jazz, funk, ballet, contemporary and her strongest suit hip-hop. DanceSpirit wrote: "On a scale of one to Beyoncé, 13-year-old Charlize Glass is pretty darn Beyoncé. Watching Charlize dance is like flipping through a series of perfect snapshots—each isolation of her body is that precise and finessed." She is famous for her speedy fierce power style. She puts a lot of power in the accents with a brutal stop movement by her strong athletic body. This girl knows about Kung Fu. Her motions are sometimes so fast that 24 frames per second are not enough to catch her movements. [9] And no need to explain what it means when her mentor the one and only Brian Friedman after all these years suddenly throw his shoes. She can flip her back backwards like a Kaycee Rice and is very versatile in ballet. She can execute her pirouettes with bowed knees like a figure skater (extemely difficult and exhausting). That much short head muscles have its price. Char Char is not the most flexible contemporary dancer. However, her speedy power hip-hop style slays everything and everyone in the clubs around the world and attracts a special type of client. Her artistic choice shows that she a great soul dancer. Match-up with Julian DeGuzman formed a duet with simular dance skills and Julian is a great choreographer as well. They are continuing to collaborate after NBC's World of Dance. Kyle Hanagami matched up Char Char with Josh Beauchamp for a music video of Justin Bieber and his concept video to Billie Eilish's "Your power" . And the experts are impressed by the expressive value about romance and relationship of the two handsomes.

In 2018, she was nominated for the Industry Dance Awards 2018 for most fierce dancer under 18, together with Kaycee Rice, Sean Lew, JT Church and the winner Eva Igo.

In 2019, she performed on season three of NBC's World of Dance with her new partner Julian DeGuzman. They got second in Divisional Final.

In 2020, she is starting with her own dance studio THE GLASSHOUSE LA in Santa Clarita, CA.

In Aug 2021, Charlize had 910K+ Instagram follows, 930K+ TikTok followers and 100K+ subscribers on her YouTube channel.

In 2022, Char Char performed on MTV VMA 2022 and a headliner show in front of about 75,000 people at the Rolling Loud Festivial 2022 New York[10] with Nicki Minaj. Char Char is starring on new online blog season POPSUGAR Dance Fitness for four episodes on every Friday with a range of 6M+ subscribers.[11]

In 2023, Charlize posted she is moving out in her new house, but it is not finished jet. [12] So either she has overcome her financial troubles during COVID-19 pandemic or we have a subprime 2.0 here. She finally moved on May 30.[13] Since August 31, Char Char was a permanent background dancer of Maluma's Don Juan World Tour in the North Amerika Tour until the end of the year.[14][15] [16]

On January 12, 2024 Char Char attended the premiere of comedy feature "Mean Girls" (trailer). She is one the core dancers being featured. - Mean Girls | Kyle Hanagami Featurette [17] Since March 2024, she is background dancer again on Nicki Minaj’s Gag City US and Europe Tour 2024.[18] And on day two Char Char was already credited by the Queen of Hip-Hop as her true GAG CITY SUPER HERO mama. Nicki was during a quick change let Charlize to take her dress shirt off. But then Nicki didn't want Charlize do it, because Char Char "is pro!!!", it's not her job and went to stage, but Charlize simple minded ran after her, stand a second on her right, and then ripped the dress off from her back during her second song on stage in full arena, vanished with it and appeared seconds later as her background dancer on her left. After that Char Char *adds to resume* magician, good under pressure and gag city super hero.[19] On March 30, she performed first time with Nicki on a sold out show in Madison Square Garden, the "World's Number One Show Arena".[20]

Please support Charlize on her crowdfunding request for her dance studio THE GLASSHOUSE in Santa Clarita, CA. Grand Opening Party was on Sunday, October 24, 2021 and first class was on Monday next day by Charlize of course. Charlize is a successful industry dancer, but the request still stands to finance the startup. Due Coronavirus she got some troubles for finance the construction, building and the start-up operation costs and she asks for crowd funding.

8 Flavahz[edit | hide | edit source]

In 2011, Char Char met twin sisters Tiara and Tamara, Camren, Summer, Kaelynn, Jaira, and Angel at a dance convention in Los Angeles. Tiara, Tamara, Camren, and Summer are originally from Hawaii and were part of a group called the Flavahs Crew, a previous version of 8 Flavahz. The other four girls, including Charlize, are native Californian. Their Hawaiian counterparts asked them if they wanted to form a dance group together to compete at ‘World of Dance Hawaii’. They agreed, and the eight dancers subsequently participated in the competition under the name Flavahs and Friends, eventually finishing in the third place. Tiara, Tamara, and Summer were also part of a second group, 24VII Danceforce, which ultimately won the competition. Afterwards, they decided to rename the group as the 8 Flavahz.

The four Hawaiian girls, as part of the Flavahs Crew, had unsuccessfully auditioned for the sixth season of ‘America's Best Dance Crew’ in 2011. In 2012, in the seventh season of the show, the new group fared much better. Competing against nine other groups, they excelled in almost every round and eventually emerged as the first runner-up.

Since then, Charlize and the rest of the girls have made a number of appearances in music videos and TV shows, sometimes as a group, and at other times, as individual dancers. Glass performed in the music videos for Willow Smith’s ‘Whip My Hair’ (2010), Mindless Behaviour’s ‘Girls Talkin’ Bout’ (2011), Sophia Grace’s ‘Girls Just Gotta Have Fun’ (2013), and Maejor Ali, Juicy J, and Justin Bieber’s ‘Lolly’ (2013).
